Kashan Tours
Kashan Tours
Historical houses are inseparable parts of Kashan tours. Kashan is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Iran. The city is packed with historical places, great 18th-century architecture, one of Iran’s most unique bazaars, and offers great trips within a close distance. In fact, most sights are within walking distance of each other, making it quite easy to navigate your way around! No wonder Kashan tours are among the most popular tours for tourists who travel to Iran! We start our visit with Tabatabaei House known for its courtyards, amazingly detailed and overall present stucco work, and tall wind wards, designed to keep designated rooms cool during a burning hot summer. Next, we pay a visit to Borujerdi House constructed in 1857 on the order of a wealthy merchant. It took eighteen years and 150 craftsmen to build this beauty. It is also equipped with three wind towers to make the place unusually cool during summer. The house features plasterwork similar to that of the Tabatabaei House but has a dazzling dome that might just leave you speechless. Then, we will visit The Hammam of Sultan Amir Ahmad, a 16th-century traditional bathhouse that used to be open to the public. A narrow passage leads to a large octal-shaped chamber that used to be the dressing room and a place for relaxation and socialization. There, we will visit the domed architecture of the roof. After that, we will walk toward the Abbasian House for lunch. After lunch, we will proceed to the Ameri House, home to the governor of Iran in the 18th century. The Ameri House covers almost 9,000 M2. It has 85 rooms and 7 courtyards to explore. Currently, it is serving as a five-star hotel for both national and international travelers who travel to Iran. Then, we walk toward Agha Bozorg Mosque. Described as the ‘finest Islamic complex in Kashan and one of the best of the mid-19th century’, this mosque and theological school should not be missed during your visit to Kashan. Conveniently located in the city center, you can just walk here from the historical houses. Excellent symmetrical design, robust brickwork, a large green courtyard, blue tiles, and overall soft tones are key elements of this structure, which was given its name ‘Borzorg’ translated to ‘Big’ or ‘Great Lord’ by the Shah himself. After visiting there, we go toward Kashan Bazaar. This 800-year-old bazaar is mentioned as one of the most beautiful in the country because of the 19th-century grand light well, which can be found at the old Aminoddole caravanserai. It is a stunning piece of artwork! A beautiful mosaic dome allows daylight to light up the tile work in front of your eyes. Leaving you dazzling under the blue and yellow design of what looks like a giant flower, spreading its decorated diamond-shaped leaves around the chamber’s walls. The bazaar also features some mosques, tombs, and old baths that have been transformed into tea houses. Furthermore, it is a good place to see some handwork in the shape of copper and carpets. And a great place to taste and buy rose water, a product Kashan is famous for. If you would like, we can cover Fin Garden, which is listed as Unesco’s heritage for its great historical importance, at the end of your walking tour. It was in this garden where Amir Kabir, the beloved prime minister in the Qajar era, was murdered at the order of the Shah! A story full of conspiracy and personal interests leads to the tragic death of this man who is known to be one of the first reformers of Iran.
Excursion to Abyaneh and Natanz
You will be picked up from your hotel at 08:30. Just one hour away from Kashan, you can reach the historical village of Abianeh, one of the top attractions on most Kashan tours. Situated on the slope of the Karkas mountain, this village only has a mere 350 residents. Yet, it is highly popular among both national and international visitors due to its unique location, history, and typical multi-store houses made of red clay. The streets are so small that you won’t find any vehicles around and the elderly villagers still walk around in their traditional dress. The village has an ethnology museum, where you can see some tools, clothes, and utensils that show some of the 2500-year-old history of this place. Besides this, you can visit the old mosque and walk to the Palahamoona Fort (Takht-e-Haman) on the hill opposite the village, which offers a spectacular view of the village with the mountain in the background. Then, we will visit the Jame Mosque of Natanz, then the ceramic factory, and after lunch, back to Kashan or Isfahan at the end of the tour.
Excursion to the Maranjab Desert
Maranjab Desert is one of the most beautiful deserts in Iran which is near Kashan city. It has a magnificent landscape of sand dunes and hills. This desert is located north of Aran and Bidgol in the province of Isfahan in Iran. The beauty of the running sand dunes and the mesmerizing night sky of the desert call visitors to take in the moments. Normally, an evening tour of Maranjab is suggested for travelers who wish to experience Kashan tours, but it can be arranged based on your travel time as well. The Maranjab Caravanserai was built by Shah Abbas I to make the Silk Road secure for merchants and boost trade. It has 28 rooms in different sizes around the courtyard. Despite the arid climate, fresh water is the hidden gem of the desert, nestled in a qanat near the caravanserai. We head to visit the dunes to experience walking on them and soak up the peaceful atmosphere. Here, we have the opportunity to take unique photos of the rippling dunes and lay down on warm sand under the sunshine. Then, we go to the Salt Lake and the wandering Island. In the past, people used to think that the island wanders along the desert and vanishes at times, but we know that this is just an optical illusion. After sunset, we say goodbye to the Maranjab Desert and come back to Kashan. The area around Maranjab is safe and an ideal place for camping.
Excursion to Matin Abad Desert Ecocamp
Matinabad eco-resort is located 6 km away from the Tehran-Isfahan highway, about 60 km southeast of Kashan, one of the main attractions of Central Iran. Matinabad is built in a beautiful desert with a gorgeous view of the Karkas Mountains in the south. Watching the full-star night sky, lying on the hot gold sands of the desert, trekking the desert on the calm camels, and riding down the dunes on your bike or board are the adventures you can enjoy doing in the camp. Moreover, the short distance from the historic and exotic village of Abyaneh, a very popular destination in Iran, adds to the activity list of the camp.
Kashan Rose Water Festival Tour
Rose Water Festival is one of the most attractive parts of Kashan tours. This tour can be handled either from Tehran or Kashan during the season of the Kashan Rose Water Festival (20 April to 20 May). The cultivation of Mohammadi roses in Iran dates back to around 7,000 years ago; however, the rose water festivals have been feasted since 1,000 years ago. The early rose waters were made by rose distillation, but over the years, this procedure continued with the distillation of Damask roses (Mohammadi roses) as well. Rosewater making is practiced in cities such as Qamsar, Niasar, Kamo, Vadeqan, and Barzak in Kashan. Flower pickers start working early in the morning before sunrise and they have to finish the task before noon. Based on an old farmers’ myth, flowers picked before sunrise will spread a richer and stronger odor. Then, we will head to Niasar and flower gardens and farms. In the morning, we will have a traditional Iranian breakfast, then we will help gather rose flowers, and then participate in and see rosewater purification. We will spend more time in flower gardens. Then, we will go to the Niasar fire temple and, after that, we will visit the Niasar waterfall. We will have lunch at the waterfall and at 03:00 pm, we will go back to Kashan or Tehran.
The underground City of Noushabad (Ouyi)
Morning at 09:00, you will be picked up from your hotel in Kashan and given a drive to the underground city of Noushabad or Ouyi which is 10 km away from Kashan. Just north of Kashan near Aran va Bidgol, in the small town of Nushabad (Noosh-Abad), lies a sprawling underground city. This impressive-scale ancient buried shelter, completely unknown until a decade ago, is probably the biggest underground city discovered in the world. Its intricate network of corridors spread under the whole city, and even further, on three levels. The lowest level is dug about 20 m under the ground, with chambers and some necessary provisions to make it temporarily inhabitable. Presently, two main entrances have been provided to give visitors access to the underground city of Noushabad. One of them has been dug through the historical water reservoir in the central part of the city. Each entrance of the city is about 120 centimeters high, and only one person can pass through it. It should also be mentioned that only the first level and some parts of the second level are now accessible to visitors. Further archaeological projects are in the process of exploring other parts of the city and making them accessible to visitors. Further excavations may reveal an underground city much longer than what is estimated so far. We will back to the hotel at 13.00.
Kashan to Tehran with a stop at Qom
If your next stop is Tehran and you like to visit Qom City, this tour is suitable for you. Our guide will pick you up from the hotel at 08:30 and drive to Qom City (110 km). Our Qom tour will begin from the holy shrine of Fatimah Masoumeh telling the story of this holy character through the words of religious experts in addition to the architecture and history of this holy city. Qom is counted as one of the focal centers of the Shiʿah in Iran. In addition to the importance of the shrine of Fatimah bint Musa, a mosque has been built in Qom, the name of which is still a testimonial to the glorious era of Persia’s mythological history. Jamkaran is a mosque that many Shiites and Muslims believe in. Shiite narrations say that a man saw Muhammad Al-Mahdi (the 12th Imam of Shiite who is still alive for Armageddon) in a dream and took the order to build a mosque from him. For this reason, many pilgrims even come to this mosque on foot. Shah Abbas II Safavid also built his tomb in the shrine of Fatimah bint Musa. People like Shah Suleiman and Shah Safi Safavid, the last kings of the Safavid dynasty, and others like Fath-Ali Shah Qajar, are also buried in this historical religious place. Now it is time to buy Qom souvenir. Qom is famous for Sohan. Sohan is a kind of Iranian sweet that is made from wheat germ. Sohan is produced and supplied in different forms and types such as Honey Sohan, Sesame Sohan, Halva, Almond, etc. The main raw materials used in baking and preparing Sohan are water, flour, wheat, sugar, oil, egg yolk, cardamom, saffron, and pistachio kernels. Then, we will eat lunch in the Mah Tourist Complex and drive to Tehran.
