The holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport also can stay in Iran for 21 days without obtaining a visa.
Remember that reporters, journalists, photographers, and cameramen of any nationality other than Iranian require a visa. So, in this case, you need a visa to enter Iran even if you are a citizen of visa-free countries.
Hence as a citizen of these visa-free countries, you only need a passport with 6 months of validity.
Finally, to extend your stay in Iran, you should visit the Police Department of Alien Affairs in one of the Iranian cities and apply for it.
Iran Visa Issuance Procedure
We can contribute to the issuance of your Iran visa in coordination with the Visa Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (M.O.F.). After you fill in the requested information on the visa form (in two separate attachments for individual & group travelers), we transfer your visa application to M.O.F. This process takes 5-10 working days after sending the application form to the mentioned department.
Iran visa procedures for American, British, Canadian, and Australian citizens are longer, as it takes 35-45 working days. Your Visa Authorization as a reference number will be sent simultaneously to you and to the Iran consulate or embassy of the place to which you applied for an Iran visa. This Visa authorization is based on your application file at M.O.F., whereupon the Iranian Embassy will issue your visa.

Foreign tourist passports will not be stamped in Iran to ease entry rules and also to counter US bilateral sanctions against IRAN. The resumption of sanctions against Iran began in May 2018, when the US withdrew from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action known as the Iran nuclear agreement. One of the consequences of Trump’s sanctions against Iran is that those who travel to Iran might face some difficulties afterward. To reduce tourists’ concerns about US sanctions, the Iranian vice president announced that foreign tourist passports will not be stamped in Iran.
Required Documents for Iran Visa Application upon Arrival
To have the visa issued at Iran airport, the applicant should have two-way tickets and the passport validity must be of a minimum of 6 months. The applicant is also required to render one photo together with 30.00-70.00 Euro for the application ( visa fee depends on your nationality ) for each attendant and to complete the related visa forms.
